When Nick and I moved into this house, we discussed the door between the kitchen and his office. It wouldn't stay wide open, so I suggested removing the door from the hinge. Nick wanted to leave the door so he close off his office if he needed it quiet. So, I found one of my rocks (yes, I have a collection of rocks) that's flat, to prop against the door to keep open.
While planning the kitchen design, I had planned on buying a glass door to replace the door between the kitchen and office. I talked to Nick about it and he was okay with removing the door permanently. We realized, in the two years (this week was our anniversary of home ownership) we've lived here, Nick has only closed that door once.

Door off (with new artwork):
I like it. Nick likes it. I think we will finished off the doorway when the kitchen is remodeled.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Finished Bathroom!
I think I can officially say that the hall bathroom is done! The curtains are up now, which I started last week.
Here it is:
Here are some other shots I love:

So it's all done! Yippee! I'm done with a whole room! It took almost 2 years to be done with a room. Hopefully it takes less than that to get another room done.

Shower Curtains
I have been looking at flanking the tub with shower curtains. I think it looks pretty nice, and bring some symmetry to the bathroom.
I had planned on making dummy panels, but needed the right fabric. I wanted to have pattern, but I didn't want it to look feminine, or childlike. I found come nice blue fabric, with dots that appear in a circular pattern. So I set to work sewing them, and adding grommets to the top.
The colors are not accurate, but it does show the pattern. Next week, I will be installing them in the bathroom.
AFI Top 100 Update: We watched #34, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It's actually kind of dark for a children's movie.

Sideboard options
We normally have a table behind the sofa in the living room, but we moved it to the alcove in the living room. It works great there, so I am trying to find a replacement for behind the sofa. I keep thinking a sideboard would be nice, given its location would be next to the table we eat at. Once the kitchen is redone, our current bar will not be needed. Most of its content will go into the new beverage center area, but some things would go great in a sideboard, specifically cloth napkins, and tablecloths.
Enter Tarva from Ikea:
Tarva is an unfinished pine dresser. The possibilities are endless, and that's where I'm stuck. I'm not sure what exactly I want to do. My first thought was all dark stain like this one from My EnRoute life:
I also thought about a white and stain combo that is so popular right now:
I also thought about an all white option like this one from Mornings on Main:
Other options running through my mind are:
White top, everything else another color (navy, black, or deep green)
Patterned top, everything else white
Navy or deep green drawers, everything else white
Which option do you like most?

Pinning and Pining: August 2013 Football Edition
Ah, football season is back, and this month's Pinning and Pining is all about football, specifically the Packers!
The artwork is very nice, and fitting for how people see professional athletes. Often, people forget that athletes are just people, and when they act like horrible people (ahem, hernandez), everyone is surprised. Off soapbox now. I like Bart Starr the most, because it seems exactly like him, smiling and happy.
I like this pin up art because it looks retro and sophisticated, which is clearly difficult (google image search "packers pinup"). I would never own this art, but I admire it.
I love all of these necklaces from Etsy seller Wildflowers & Grace. They are exactly my style, and would be great for game day!
I'm one of the few people who love the throwback uniform. I even own a Rodgers throwback uniform. The Packers will wear them in October vs the Browns. I can't wait!
GO PACKERS!

This is a screen shot from google image search. I love when Rodgers has fun with the facial hair! I'm hoping for some more this season. | |

Cleaning the Fridge
This weekend, Nick and I cleaned out the fridge.
Empty!
All of this was good enough to go back in the fridge.
I also made Nick brownies!
Easy weekend. Next weekend, we will be in Fort Lauderdale to spend time with Nick's sister, who's in town for work. I'm hoping to get a little beach time in!

New plants again!
I decided to do some gardening this weekend. It was, of course, the hottest weekend ever. I did some weeding, and fixed the gutter again. I also planted some succulents.
I spotted these bad boys as Home Depot a couple weeks ago, and I fell in love. They are known as flapjacks, or paddle plants. What do you think of them?

Flooring has arrived!
I have been on the hunt for flooring that matches the laminate that is in the living room. I wanted the flooring to match all the way through the big rooms of the house. We currently have 7 different flooring options (4 different tiles, 1 carpet, 1 linoleum, 1 laminate), and I hate it. I know the house would be so much more cohesive if the living room, kitchen, and office, all had the same flooring. After months of hunting around, some guessing, and some disappointment, I finally found the flooring that matches the living room, at Floor and Decor. The same place we got our bathroom tile from.
I had to special order the floor, which was suppose to arrive in 7-10 days, well, 23 days later it arrived. I made about 7 phone calls to the store to figure out what was going on. I never did find out what the delay was, but luckily, we won't be installing this until next year.
Sorry for the poor quality photo, this is from my iphone. That's 500 sq ft of flooring, and 18 feet of t-molding. It's going to be great when we finally install this. This is completely transform the look of the house.
