Hockey Night

For Xmas I got hockey tickets, and yesterday, we went to the game.

It was a great night.  We were in the 3rd row, on the end where the Avalanche shoot twice.  We really enjoyed it, and are considering going to many more games in the future.

Sick Sunday

I've been under the weather for a couple days now.  I haven't had a cold in years.  One of the benefits of living in Florida, I suppose.  That being said, We haven't been up to much.  I am planning on working on some kitchen reno prep soon, but in the meantime we will be working on some backyard work.  New, more exciting posts will be up soon.

Here's a photo from last weekend in Wisconsin:

Pinning and Pining: January 2014

Well, it's a new year, and I'm looking forward to finding more to pin and pine.   January is a little slim right now.

Pinning:

Pinterest
I collect fortune cookie fortunes, and I think a bowl full of these clay fortune cookies would be fantastic!  May have my summer project lined up.

I found this at the right time.  We have one of these in Nick's office, and I would love to do this when we redo the floors in there this year.

Pining:

I'm pining for a new job.  I've been looking for a couple months, but haven't gotten very far.  I'm trying to keep optimistic, but it's been tough.  Hopefully, soon.

Colorado Avalanche
I'm very excited to go to my first Colorado Avalanche game next week.  I've been wanting to go for a long time.  We are in the lower section, 3 row in the corner.  I can't wait to see the hits that close!

Next month, I will be pinning and pining sooner to give Nick a chance to get me something for Valentine's Day.

Missed Sunday

I missed a post yesterday.  We were busy watching football.  We are alive!
We will be in Wisconsin, for Xmas with my family.  I may not post next week.

2014 Resolutions

Here's how the 2013 resolutions worked out:

Finances:
-Start a Roth IRA
-Increase savings again
-Pay off at least one credit card

Relationship:
-Go on a vacation
-Start watching AFI's Top 100

Home:
-Complete room-by-room project list

-Hem curtains
-Paint Nick's office
-Work on big project (TBD)

On the financial side, we increased our savings about the same as last year.  I put myself on a Target diet.  I would go to Target several times a month, to get out of the house, but would end up wasting money on things I didn't need.  I decided I was allowed to go to Target once a month, and if I did that, I would transfer $200/month into our savings account.  I was able to transfer 8 of the 12 months.  I plan to continue this in 2014 too.  Also, we not only paid off one credit card, but all credit cards we had before we got married.  We only use our Chase credit card now to get the % cash back.

On the relationship side, we went on vacation to DC in May, and went to visit family over Labor day.  DC was fantastic!  We didn't see everything (who can in 4 days), so a return trip is a guarantee.  We have watched only 18 of the AFI Top 100.  I was expecting more, but we aren't in a hurry.  We knew it would take a couple years.  You can keep up with our progress here.

On the home side, we (with lots of help from my dad and mom) renovated the hall bathroom.  It was a long process, but you can read about it here, here, here and here.  The final product looks great.  I finally painted Nick's office, and in the process found my favorite paint color, Wheat Bread by Behr.  And I posted the room-by-room project list.  This list may get a short cut on the header of the website, to keep easily accessible.

So with that, some of the resolutions will be moved to 2014.
