Photo Tour

So this will be a little walk through for you.  This is how we saw it in July, and how we bought it in September.

I couldn't take a picture of the house without vehicles in the way, so I'm using the realtor's photo.

When you walk in the front door you enter into the living room.

Through the archway, is the large, but awkward kitchen.

As you can see the fridge is lonely.  There will be plans to change the kitchen eventually.

Down the hallway is a bathroom and two bedrooms.

The larger bedroom is only accessible through the smaller bedroom, which we plan to change.  All in time though.

Back to the kitchen, and through the doorway, into the mystery room.  I believe this used to a master bedroom.

It has a large walk in closet, which eats up a lot of square footage.  We are waiting to make a decision on this room.

You saw a peek of the laundry room, so we will go there next.
This is a very large laundry room, with access to the back yard, too.

Last, but not least, the master suite.

I believe that the master suite is another addition to the house.  The bedroom is an average size, but it is dwarfed by our king size bed.  The closet organization was poorly thought out, and the bathroom is very tight.

So there is your tour.  We have already started working on things around the house.  Once the dust has settled, and I will get new pictures up.

Floor Plan

Throwing photos up would be a little confusing without some idea as to where we are, so here is the floor plan.  Study this, and you won't be confused tomorrow when I show photos of the house.  The laundry, mystery room, and master suite are additions.
So this is the beauty that we are calling home now.  See you tomorrow!

Moved

We have officially moved out of our apartment, and into the house.  We have been busy working of things around the house, but I promise to show photos of the house this weekend, once I find where I packed my camera.

It's Ours!

It's official, we're homeowners!  With a drained bank account.  Home Depot took part of it.  Bastards!  We're going back to Home Depot again, though.

Busy weekend.  Pictures to come soon!

Color Scheme

Since we are closing soon, I finally get to choose color options for the house.  So here's what I'm planning right now.  It'll probably change at least once before I buy any of these.

This are wall and fabric colors.  All the furniture is dark wood, and fixtures are in silver.

I'm looking forward to painting, but I know I will hate it about 30 minutes into it.

Inspection Complete

Just completed the inspection on the house, with HouseMaster.  Would definitely recommend them if they are available in your area. The men we had were thorough and professional, and answered all of my questions, and made recommendations on improvements, and maintenance.

Anyway, the house looks good.  The structure on the 50+ year old house, looks younger than that and the roof needs to be replaced in a couple years, but has no leaks, or major structural damage.  Minor electrical work needs to be done, but that's extremely minor

In a couple days we should be able to close!  Yippee!

2nd Appraisal

The second appraisal is in.  It is more complete, and much higher than we think it should be.  The first appraisal seemed low, due to using a short sale, and bank owned home as comps.  Hopefully, by the end of this week, or early next week, we hear back from the broker.
We're crossing our fingers that can get the inspector in next week.

Appraisal Again and Birthday Gift

Well, the first appraisal was low, so the seller is paying to have another appraisal done.  In the mean time, I surprised Nick with an early birthday gift.  He loves his alma mater, University of Arkansas.  While watching an episode of Color Splash on HGTV, we saw some artwork David Bromstad had done for a Michigan fan.  Nick thought it was great.  So I have been secretly holding the idea in for months, and have painting for the past two week at work.  It is 9 layers, 9 days hiding the secret.  He loves it.  Take a look.

Ignore the horrible lighting.  What do you think?

Moving Process

Moving is no fun for me.  This is how our apartment looks right now.  It's a mess.  The dining room is now a storage room, while we box things up.

We are waiting for the appraisal to come back, so we can hire an inspector.  We're still hoping to be closing the first full week of September, after we come back from our visit to Wisconsin.
